Another Extinction Event: Eltanin Impact Triggered the Ice Age

The 4 kilometer sized asteroid which struck earth 2.51 million years ago is directly associated with the formation of northern hemisphere ice caps, sudden climate change and extinction rates at the end of the Pilocene epoch.
